Email from a GSD 101 Student

I know I haven't been the best student. I promise that's not like me at all, I don't know what's been up. I guess I've just felt really unmotivated, I'm an undeclared major. It's not like high school, where I knew I was working for a diploma and I had something to achieve.

I haven't really been sure what I've been working for here,
and as a result I haven't given college my best effort so far. But I've realized in the past few days that even though I haven't got a major, I've still got to work to get somewhere.

It's just that it seems like in your class you make it a point to get that message across to us, like what I'm going to gain from trying and what I'm going to lose by not making an effort. And it's finally sinking in on me. I'm going to start applying myself more, because I worked my butt off in high school to gain an upper-hand in college, with college prep courses and such. And here I'm just cancelling it all out by being lazy, essentially,
I know for a fact I can do it. But thank you again, for giving me the opportunity to get caught up and get to where I should be, and also for talking some sense into me through your classes.
I just feel, from the impression I get in your class, that you might possibly understand where I'm at right now. Thanks
